Dental Veneers Winnipeg

Your smile is so important. It’s one of the first things other people notice about you, and when you look in the mirror, it might be the first thing you notice about yourself. Whether you’re working a front-facing career where you meet with clients and customers, or you just want to change the look of your smile, WestSide Dental, your Winnipeg dentist, can help.

There are a lot of tools we have to improve your smile and teeth. We can whiten your teeth, help you get orthodontic devices, and replace missing teeth. For some circumstances, though, your best bet will be veneers.

They are useful because they’re endlessly customizable. We can change the colour and shape of veneers to match how you want your teeth to look. We can add one, or many; you could even have veneers placed on all your teeth. This customizability means we can match how you look on the outside to how you feel inside.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are thin coverings that are placed over your teeth in order to modify their appearance. There are two kinds – porcelain and composite resin. Composite resin veneers are less expensive, and they’re easier to apply; the downside is that they’re less durable than their porcelain cousins.

Porcelain veneers are a bit more costly and they’ll often take two visits to apply, but they’ll last longer. Both types mimic the colour of natural teeth.

What is the Treatment Like?

For custom-made composite resin veneers, the process is quite simple. We’ll apply a chemical to make the surface of your tooth rough, so the resin can bind to it. Then, we’ll apply the resin carefully in layers, hardening each layer with specialized light. This is part of what gives veneers their customizability – we’re layering the resin on, so we can easily modify its shape.

Custom-made porcelain veneers are a bit more complicated (but not much). A thin layer of enamel is removed from your tooth, and then a mold is made so the veneer can be created. This is generally done under local anesthetic; let us know in advance if you have any anxiety about needles so we can use relaxation techniques to help reduce your anxiety.

Once the mold is made, we may place a temporary veneer on your tooth until the porcelain one is made. You’ll come back, we’ll remove the temporary one, use a chemical to rough up the surface of your tooth, and apply the new porcelain one to your tooth.

Who Can Get Dental Veneers?

There are a number of oral health problems that can stop veneers from being a good fit for you. Patients with gum disease will need to address that issue first; swollen and infected gums make it impossible to fit them properly.

Too little enamel can make them impossible to apply; remember, we have to rough up your tooth’s surface first. When too much of a tooth is missing, so they may not be an option; you might look to prosthesis instead.

People who grind their teeth will have to regulate their grinding before getting veneers; while the materials used are strong, porcelain teeth may chip under pressure. When teeth grinding can’t be controlled, composite resin veneers are a better option.

How Do You Care For Them?

Though veneers are artificial, you want to care for them in many of the same ways you’d care for teeth. You’ll still need to brush twice a day and floss once a day. The regions around veneers are still just as vulnerable to gum disease, and the tooth to which the veneer is affixed is still vulnerable to cavities.

Should you notice any movement in the veneer, get in touch with us right away. We’ll make sure it is properly affixed so you don’t encounter any associated oral health problems.

What Are Dental Veneers For?

Veneers are a cosmetic dentistry procedure; they don’t repair cavities and they don’t fix any other underlying problems. That’s why your oral health needs to be in great condition before you get them. We’ll help restore your mouth’s health and oral hygiene before going forward with the procedure.

In terms of cosmetics, they have a number of applications. They can fill gaps between your teeth, enhance your smile, and cover unsightly stains and discolouration that can’t be adequately addressed with whitening techniques.

When we are creating Veneers, we’ll do a full aesthetic consultation for Winnipeg customers. No two people have the same face, so no two people should have the same ones over their teeth! We want the natural look of your smile to shine through – they can be used to enhance your smile instead of changing it altogether and to good effect.

These aesthetic tools can be especially useful for people who have already had orthodontic treatments but have retained certain gaps in their teeth they don’t like. Rather than have another set of orthodontic treatments, they can change your smile’s aesthetics without actually changing the structure of your mouth.

Here at WestSide Dental centre, we care deeply about every element of your health, smile and teeth. That doesn’t just mean we want you to feel your best; it means we want you to look your best too. With the help of our experienced dentists we offer dental veneers Winnipeg MB residents can trust, that will change their smile and teeth for the better.
